Lawson's 818C

  • New engine is in!
    • It’s a JDM EJ207 Version 8. This is the JDM WRX STi motor, which is a twin-scroll turbo high-revving variant of their 2.0L engine. Should be a fun engine in the 818 with less turbo lag and a 8k redline. Makes somewhere around 280hp on the stock tune which is how I plan to leave it.
    • It’s interesting to see a stock engine and all the little clips and parts that never came with my original motor. There’s a crazy amount of stuff attached on top of these motors!
    • Prepping the engine for install in the 818. Lots of little odds and ends to tie up such as replacing a few coolant hoses, coolant bleed port install, install boost controller, replace cracked timing cover, replace spark plugs, remove power steering, replace belts, and a couple small fixes to the air inlet tube. Still need to install the JDM ECU and run the 4 wires for AVCS (variable valve timing) between the engine and ECU.
  • Working on replacing coolant adapters with silicon ones to fix the small leaks I’ve been dealing with. Finished 3/5 connections and just need to do the front two to finish up

  • New to me EJ207

  • Tidied up and power steering deleted

  • Any ideas what this is? Aftermarket oil pressure gauge?

  • Timing all looks good 🙂

  • Giving everything a once-over

  • The original cracked timing belt cover

  • Already stealing parts off the old engine
