Lawson's 818C

  • Worked on getting the front suspension bolted up last weekend.
    • Repainted lower control arms and attached lower shock mounts.
    • Replaced the wheel bearings and ball joint in both front spindles.
      • Hydraulic press definitely required for this but wasn’t too bad overall.
    • Assembled the upper control arms.
    • Mounted the upper control arms, lower control arms, and shocks onto the car.
      • The spindles will go on soon but I had to let the FFR spindle uprights dry before I could mount them because I forgot to paint them ahead of time.
    • Still have to attach the spindles, install the steering rack, and prep the front outer CVs to finish up the front suspension.
  • Installed the new to me engine wiring harness.
    • The 05 STi side-feed fuel injectors that I bought have a slightly different Denso plug than what’s on the 05 WRX harness I bought. They look identical besides two plastic alignment tabs so hopefully I’ll be able to find a simple solution. Either buying/making an adapter or trimming the plastic tabs.
    • Between the fuel lines, coolant lines, intake plumbing, vacuum lines, and the wiring harness, the middle area of the engine is getting quite cramped to work on and finish up.

  • My girlfriend helping prep some aluminum panels 🙂

  • Everything bolted up!

  • $82 Harbor Freight Hydraulic Press (Open Box)

  • Wiring harness installed

  • Priming the lower control arms

  • Unfortunately not a ton of extra room in this shop at the moment to use as a workspace
